Austin City Limits

My friend Anna came down to Texas over the weekend of September 15th to visit AND to duke it up at the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival. We saw Nickel Creek, Los Lonely Boys, John Mayer, Van Morrison, and a few others we passed by but couldn't stop to listen to. It was incredible music, but rather intense, with the 1000s of people and the heat index and all. Anna claimed that, "this is the hottest I have ever been in my life." I kept telling her only 100 degrees with a bit of cloud cover is cool, but she still said it was too hot. Being jam packed next to 1000s of other sweaty bodies didn't help cool things down though. The view below was before another 20,000 crammed themselves in the area that Friday night. Anna being a huge John Mayer fan, we were close enough to the stage (thanks to a couple hours of working our way to the front) to see his facial expressions but not close enough to scream like teenage girls. It was a blast and having Anna here was refreshing.

The first slumber party

On Friday night, I had a slumber party with my nieces Daphne, Raleigh and Elliana. They were so excited that I found them running around my parent's living room naked at 6:30 pm, trying to change into their pink pajamas. We had a blast! We ate pizza, made pink & purple cupcakes, watched a Barbie movie, sang songs, colored Strawberry Shortcake coloring books, and attempted to sleep. Rachel came and painted their fingers & toes pink and purple sparkes! It took me the rest of the weekend to recover.

Happy Birthday Missy!!!!!!

Happy Birthday to Missy! One of the best people I know. I hope your birthday if filled with all kinds of great stuff, like laser light shows, tea, sweets and laughs. Much love to you, my friend. I'm SOOOOO glad you were born, I don't know what I'd do without you. In the first picture Missy is walking thoughtfully in a beautiful garden in Portland, Oregon. In the second she is sipping yummy wine in Napa Valley, what a beauty she is!

Going home

This summer I took Garett, my boyfriend of three and a half years, to Peru! I hadn't been back in four years, so we were both so excited to go. Even though my parents and grandmother were not there (my father is now the Peace Corps director of Nicaragua), we did get to spend time with some of my extended family. We were only there for 2 weeks, and our budget was tight, so we didn't get to travel around too much, but we did see a lot of Lima, the outskirts, and Cuzco. The first photo is obviously Machu Picchu. Gare and I went to a Pachamanca, which is a Peruvian pit BBQ, where they bury the food in the ground, over and surrounded by rocks that have been heated for hours. We strolled and shopped through the market in Cuzco, and sat down to have some soup with the locals. The last picture is of the white and black trails of the Andes, which were both visible from this spot. Unfortunately, we're not sure how much longer those names will be relevant, since the ice caps are melting. It was so beautiful! A wonderful trip, it was really a treasure.

A Principal's Duties

Since I am officially the administrator on call for my school, I had the opportunity this morning to do some official business. I am currently taking a class entitled "Evaluation and Supervision" for my Educational Leadership Masters degree and decided to take advantage of my being principal today to do some observations that were assigned as homework. Imagine my shock and awe as I sat through the lesson of a teacher familiar (or is it unfamiliar?) to us all......click on the image to view the write up.

It's been a long time...

So far I've managed to steer clear of blogs and other such myspace/friendster related realms... but I received my college reunion invite this weekend, and I finally caved. It got me thinking a lot about you guys and Hope, and I remembered Jared inviting me to this thing ages ago. So hello everyone! It's amazing to see all your faces again, not to mention your growing families! I'll do my best to post some pictures and fill you in as soon as I can, but i'll need some time to figure this thing out. You all look wonderful and I can't wait to catch up!

These are Tennant boys...

Tennants in September

This is what Eli loves to do best, color and draw. Note how intent he is and the manner in which he is holding his marker.

In Texas, even the little ones need sunglasses. Here we are loading up the car again. I think we were going to watch the UT/Ohio State game - which was a tragic loss for the Longhorns. Eli now knows how to say - "Hook 'em Horns!"

On Friday, we went to a Counting Crows concert in San Antonio. I highly recommend them. Very good in concert.

And finally, here is reality. Cadence crying because Eli got in the car first or something equally as ridiculous.

Missy Wuz Here

Missy came to visit us last week and we did all kinds of fun things like eating, shopping, walking along the canal, eating some more, having frappucinos, hanging with Sienna, going to see Liz, watching chick flicks, and eating some more. Here are some pictures of the fun that was had. Note the ice cream with amazing toppings. I added a cute picture of Sienna, just because I can't help it.

Old photos and a scanner

Some of you might know that I recently got a new printer/scanner/copier dealie with my new computer. I had some time Saterday morning and enjoyed looking through some old non-digital photos. Here are some of my favorites.
