This summer I took Garett, my boyfriend of three and a half years, to Peru! I hadn't been back in four years, so we were both so excited to go. Even though my parents and grandmother were not there (my father is now the Peace Corps director of Nicaragua), we did get to spend time with some of my extended family. We were only there for 2 weeks, and our budget was tight, so we didn't get to travel around too much, but we did see a lot of Lima, the outskirts, and Cuzco. The first photo is obviously Machu Picchu. Gare and I went to a Pachamanca, which is a Peruvian pit BBQ, where they bury the food in the ground, over and surrounded by rocks that have been heated for hours. We strolled and shopped through the market in Cuzco, and sat down to have some soup with the locals. The last picture is of the white and black trails of the Andes, which were both visible from this spot. Unfortunately, we're not sure how much longer those names will be relevant, since the ice caps are melting. It was so beautiful! A wonderful trip, it was really a treasure.
