Congratulations Jason!

I do believe that on the official Jason/Lisa engagement date pool that is posted over at 92.5 17th street, I had reserved April 17 as the date...did anyone else get closer?

Yup Matt, you're right, you guessed April 17th. That means that you win the grand prize--punch bowl attendant;-) (By the way, how did you get so close? Good job.)

Whoohoo Jason and Lisa! We are so excited for you guys. We really like the future Mrs. Jason Kool. She is great.

I figured my time strictly on the basis that April 15 is traditionally tax day.....statistically speaking, some lucky people get money back from taxes, therefore creating extra spending money for the ring.

Yay! In my opinion being married rocks! Did you guys have a photographer there? Do tell the proposal story, it looks like there's a song involved....

This is how Jason (Kool) proposed to me...

:o)

First of all...I am totally and completely in LOVE with Jason. He is the most wonderful man in the world, and I'm blessed to have him in my life. It’s amazing how God can bring two complete strangers together, and have them fit so perfectly…but I am forever grateful.

We have been talking about getting married for a couple of months now, so I knew this day was coming. But, I never imagined it would be on tax day (smart thinking on choosing that date Matt!). I figured Jason would act somewhat nervous on the big day, but he didn't. The only thing that gave it away was when he pulled his guitar out of the car when we got to Rosy Mounds for our "walk," because who normally takes a guitar for a walk, right? We walked through the woods, up the dunes, down the dunes, and along the beach before sitting on a bench that overlooked Lake Michigan. We were here several months ago back in the early part of our relationship, so it was nice to be back at the same spot. We just sat and talked for a little bit. I was kind of nervous for what was going to happen, but excited at the same time. He said he had a song that he wanted to play for me, and started to get his guitar out. I saw a piece of music in it that said “More Than A Dream” at the top, and that was the song that he wrote for me. He played the intro a couple of times through, and then he began to sing. It only took a couple of words out of his mouth to make me cry. I thought I was going to be so strong and not cry…but not so much! I didn’t catch all of the words because I was so emotional, but I could tell it was heartfelt, and the words I did hear the first time through were beautiful. When the song ended, Jason got down on one knee, slipped the gorgeous ring on my finger, told me HE LOVED ME, and said those 4 amazing words that I have been waiting to hear my whole life, “Will you marry me?” I was still crying at this point, and I couldn’t even talk. I just hugged him, but I know I said yes in there somewhere!!! It was the most perfect proposal, and I will never forget it ever. Thank you for asking Jason!!!!!!!!

I’m a huge fan of taking pictures at every possible event, but I didn’t bring my camera on our walk. Jason had his camera though, so we took a picture of ourselves right after the big question. Then his batteries died. We ended up going back to his parents’ house, and asked them to take a walk with us back to Rosy Mounds. We reenacted it all, and his mom was wonderful enough to take a bunch of pictures for us to remember the special occasion.

…And that was my version of the proposal.

Lisa,
We've known Jason for nearly 10 years. I know that you know it but I just wanted to tell you, you're getting the best.

My mom says, "Congrats!"

Thanks, everyone! You guys are all great!

Matt, nice job guessing the date. My choosing it actually had nothing to do with it being tax day. I havn't even gotten my federal return yet.

Lisa's version of the story is right on. I wasn't really nervous until it came right down to it, and I got some kind of phychological lockjaw and couldn't get sing the song. Lisa was very patient with me and I did eventually sing the song and somehow finished through some tears of my own.

Lisa is the most amazing, beautiful woman I've ever met. Rachel said Lisa's getting the best, but I know that I'm the one who's getting the very best.

oh, that's a wonderful story. being in love is awesome. Lisa had Jason told you he loved you before or was that the first time?

Yes, Karen, that was the first time I had told Lisa that I love her. I really wanted to show Lisa how I felt and save the phrase "I love you" for when we had a higher level of commitment: engagement.

By the way, I just got my tax return in the mail.

Well, well, well, I guess it is up to Lisa to steal your granola bars.

Speaking as one who has slept near to Jason, I can say he is an excellent roommate. Unless, do you still wear that retainer? Cause it kind of makes some noise at night. Just to warn you, Lisa.

I am very proud of you Jason. You are a man of honor.

A real man's man.

Lisa, I agree with Rachel, you couldn't have done any better.

Karen...as Jason said, he had not told me that he loved me in person until the moment he proposed. I think that is another reason why I was so emotional. But, even though the words weren't said until that day, I know that we both could see and feel how we felt about each other!!! It's wonderful hearing and saying it now though.

And Jason...you better watch out, because I LOVE granola bars!!!

Can't wait to meet all of you that I haven't met before. I have told Jason quite a few times that he has a great circle of friends, and I'm looking forward to living closer to alot of you in the near future.
