An Invitation
All you ladies are invited to Rachel's baby shower this coming Saturday at noon. I know I didn't give you much time to plan, but if any of you could come it would be great. If for some reason you can't make it, we'll be thinking of you.
The format of the shower is a competitive potluck; Simone has already submitted an imaginary entry consisting of Gumbo with (I think) both wild turkey and venison. Any other imaginary entries are also welcome!
Happy Baby Shower to Rachel!
We're so excited for you!

Rachel, Sorry I can't be there to wish you a happy shower. I bet you have a really cute baby tummy! You're having a boy, right? Got any names picked out yet? If I could come I'd make you Grammy Meeker's pumpkin pie. :) (Grammy Meeker is still alive and ticking, by the way-- 97 years old!)

Grammy Meeker is still ticking- WOW!!!! We will enter her pumpkin pie into the imaginary category and announce the winner on the blog. Any other entries are welcome. The winner will receive an imaginary cash prize of $1 million dollars!!

$1 million imaginary dollars!! That's so generous of you Missy!

I won't be able to make it either, but at least I hit one baby Henderson shower. I was just day dreaming about his nursery this morning and wishing I could paint mine. Anyway, in the imaginary food contest I'm entering a salad. Just made it up at lunch today. It's got cold cooked green beans, onions, beets, mandarin oranges and red wine vinegar on it. Does that sound like a weird pregnant thing?

GUMBO CORRECTION!!!!!!
THis Gumbo soup consists of duck, venison, and sausage (the duck and venison tahnks to Benjamin's newly forming hunting skills), vegetable, and sweet liquids. It is spiced with secret ingredients, has a vesty kick you won't forget, and is served over whole wheat rice. I sent it overnight to Missy and Denise to put in the freezer and take out on the 28th. Enjoy! I expect my imaginary $1 million to be coming next week!
Have a blast, Rachel, being blessed with tons of soft, sweet, cute gifts for baby Henderson (also known as Rocky)!

I think the winner is...three-meat gumbo! While all the entries were good (I'm longing to taste that unique salad, and enticed by an heirloom pumpkin pie recipe), only one included three types of flesh, two of them caught in the old-fashioned way. How often do you get that, even if only in your imagination? Thank you for all entries. The winners of the real contest were:
1. Truffles, by Beverly (by far), 2. Butterscotch Apple Salad, by Belinda,
3. Beef Stew, by Denise Walcott.
Heather with a roasted bacon-potato salad, and Missy with her famous punch followed closely behind. And Rachel got many soft, homemade items from the ladies.
What color would you paint your nursery, Karen? What color is your nursery, Flot?
