Half Marathon Results

The results are in! Simone and I had a great time in our first half-marathon, despite the 28 degree weather. Our goal was under hours, which we achieved. Who wants to come to Texas and run with us next year? or the next race?

Karen,
Chip time is the time that it took them to run the race. Gun time or clock time only matters if you are a pro and you start at the front. There were 2300 females who ran the half marathon. Simone was the 704th female. She beat almost 1600 female runners. They also ran at a pace of 8 minute 19 second miles. That is a pretty darn good clip that will keep the wind through your hair as you run. Basically, they ran really fast!

Thanks, guys. I appreciate your enthusiasm for us... all you marathoner folks. I was so ready to be done at 13.1 miles, I couldn't have imagined having to run 13.1 more. What a relief to see that sign pointing the 1/2ers to one side and the fulls to another! Although, after a 3 hour break when we were back home and showered, I felt better and thought maybe I could do 13 more (but certainly not all at once! You marathoners are amazing!)
Yeah, I don't know if you can find Ben on the results page, his chip time was messed up, but I came in 20 seconds after him at 1:48ish (he decided to sprint the last mile and I just couldn't keep up). We started over 30 minutes after everyone else did and after gun time because we were waiting for Jason... we decided that perhaps that is the secret strategy to going faster 'cause ya pass so many people and boost your ego. Yeah, it was fun... I can see why Jared and Rachel were hooked to racing all these years!

It sounds like you guys had fun. I am honestly jealous- I love that you ran together and then Benjamin gazelled in the last mile. Wait a second- you both gazelled it the whole way. Doesn't it feel great to go home and take a shower?
