Simone's first triathlon
Simone competed in her first triathlon on Sunday morning, greatly aided by the sweet bike many of you helped get for her birthday. She loves the bike. Not suprisingly Simone did awesome, finishing the spring distance at a blazing 1 hour 22 minutes. The sprint is a 500 meter swim, 13.6 mile bike, and 5K run. She was fourth in her age group and the 13th woman overall in the sprint. Not too shabby. Here are some pictures of her.

I love the photo of you at the starting line. It captures a great moment. My favorite, however is the first picture. You look pretty sweet. You make Mattswier proud of bikers.

That biking picture was taken at home after the race. They didn't get one during the race because, well, frankly, I was going so darn fast they didn't expect me.
The two ladies in the photo are my friends and fitness instructors at the 24 Hour Fitness I go to.
Let me put this into perspective. The fastest woman came in at 1:09. There were only 200 or so women in the sprint race, 800 athletes total (there was also an olympic, elete, relay races, and lots of men). There were only 29 women in my age group. I have to give a lot of credit to my 2005 Fugi Aloha Tri bike - it is easy to ride, obeys well, and goes really fast.
